Once you've completed your online theory training, it's time to put your knowledge into action with a hands-on practical assessment, guided and observed by a qualified assessor.

✅ Learn how to safely handle and restrain animals for microchipping
✅ Microchip at least two animals (dogs or cats) under supervision
✅ Learn to use and operate a pet microchip scanner
✅ Register the microchip and input pet data into the database

Your trainer will walk you through everything you need to know — and ensure you feel fully prepared. You’ll:

• Review key microchipping techniques and regulations

• Be assessed with a short exam to confirm your theoretical knowledge

• Practice using our microchip database systems and tools

• Gain confidence with real-time support and feedback

To complete your assessment, you’ll need access to two un-microchipped puppies or kittens.

If you don’t have access to animals on the day, we can provide them for you — just let us know in advance (an additional charge applies).

Once you have successfully completed your Theory & Practical your assessor will issue you with a Certificate of completion which will certify that you are now qualified to Microchip Animals. 

As soon as this has been done, you will be given access to your Implanter Account. This is where you will see all of the Microchips you have implanted, search microchip numbers and also check any commission that is due to you.
